Musculoskeletal (MSK) Training Program for Primary Care Providers OCT 2024
Program Description:
This two-day live interdisciplinary and evidenced-based musculoskeletal training combines didactic and hands-on learning for Primary Care Providers in the Department of Defense (DOD) and Veterans Affairs (VA). The educational program will encompass assessment, evaluation, and management of common acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Mock case studies are presented to further the practical application of clinical skills.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
Musculoskeletal (MSK) Training Program for Primary Care Providers – Day 1:
- Conduct a standardized assessment and evaluation of common musculoskeletal disorders in the back and hip.
- Explain pathologies of common musculoskeletal disorders to the back and hip.
- Outline appropriate treatment and referral plans and improve delivery of care for common musculoskeletal disorders of the back and hip.
- Identify patients who would benefit from integrative holistic health and rehabilitative strategies that may be performed at home and virtually using the ADVet-HOMME program.
Musculoskeletal (MSK) Training Program for Primary Care Providers – Day 2
- Conduct a standardized assessment and evaluation of common musculoskeletal disorders in the shoulder and knee.
- Explain pathologies of common musculoskeletal disorders to the shoulder and knee.
- Outline appropriate treatment and referral plans and improve delivery of care for common musculoskeletal disorders of the shoulder and knee.
- Identify patients who would benefit from integrative holistic health and rehabilitative strategies that may be performed at home and virtually using the ADVet-HOMME program.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 12.50 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
