Program Description
This is a live in-person event is for military ophthalmologist, optometrists, and staff of military refractive surgery centers. This event provides a venue for sharing educational topics among the product line. Subjects have been taken from input provided by military refractive surgery care givers and providers. Instructors are a mix of providers with more than five years of refractive surgery experience or residents providing evidence-based research and reports.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for: physicians and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Explain the difference in dry eye using the VisMax SMILE procedure and LASIK for the reduction or elimination of myopia with or without astigmatism in the Department of Defense (DoD).
- Explain the efficacy of CXL using the Dresden protocol on warfighters and DOD beneficiaries treated for corneal ectasia.
- Describe the impact preservation of vision has on military retention of manpower and return to duty.
- Describe the benefits of machine learning clinical applications in refractive surgery.
- Understand the benefits and limitations of classification algorithms in PRK surgical planning.
