Program Description

This is a live in-person event is for military ophthalmologist, optometrists, and staff of military refractive surgery centers. This event provides a venue for sharing educational topics among the product line. Subjects have been taken from input provided by military refractive surgery care givers and providers. Instructors are a mix of providers with more than five years of refractive surgery experience or residents providing evidence-based research and reports.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for: physicians and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain lessons learned from conducting overseas humanitarian missions.
  2. Demonstrate a practical knowledge of how to set priorities when conducting overseas missions.
  3. Present initiatives that the Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Program (WRESP) have planned and/or have complete in the last year.
  4. Explain critical foundational knowledge for medical readiness and surgical exchange exercises in austere environments
  5. Describe specific challenges and successes to this mission. 
  6. Identify projects and initiatives owned by the Refractive Surgery Board (RSB).
