Military Injury Prevention Research to Practice Education Series: Health Framework and Assessment in the Services
This series is designed to provide military medical providers and staff with information about a variety of topics related to injury and physical performance optimization. The series is managed and developed by the Military Injury Prevention Research to Practice Working Group. Each session features presentations from scientists or clinicians at key Department of Defense research and public health agencies that routinely focus on injury, physical performance, or health promotion.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, athletic trainers, dietitians, dietetic technicians, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Define the Continuous Fitness Assessment (CFA) and its purpose to the US Space Force (USSF).
- Describe the technologies employed, including wearable devices and supporting data systems.
- Summarize key lessons learned from implementing biowearables and data infrastructure at an enterprise scale.
- Identify and differentiate between eight dimensions of health and explain how the application of organizing frameworks can contribute to understanding of complex outcomes, including Service member readiness.
- Summarize how the eight dimensions of health contribute to Service Member performance and injury outcomes.
- Recognize various risk and protective factors aligned with each of the eight domains of health that influence physical performance and injury.
