Mental Health Short Course

This three-day, multi-session course serves Joint Service Mental Health Professionals across the Military Health System. Delivered both virtually and in-person for a joint service audience, the course provides critical updates on research and innovations while encouraging interactive discussion on clinical and warfighter-focused topics to preserve mental health readiness in the force.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Analyze mental health management strategies and readiness requirements to effectively prepare behavioral health professionals for the unique challenges of Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO).
  2. Implement innovative military systems and technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and targeted healthcare programs, to enhance training, suicide prevention, and command decision-making.
  3. Apply principles of engaged leadership and strength-based clinical supervision to cultivate mentorship and a culture of excellence within military mental health settings.
  4. Assess and mitigate moral injury, integrate trauma-effective interventions, and navigate the ethical complexities inherent in military healthcare and combat environments.
  5. Develop strategies to optimize mental health access and frequency of care in resource-constrained environments.
