MAMC Pharmacy Series: Best Practices for Prescribing Insulin Syringes and Pen Needles

Program Description

This live, in-person event will focus on the best practices for prescribing insulin syringes and pen needles, specifically examining factors that influence needle length choice and the implications for patient care. The purpose of this course is to enhance outpatient pharmacist and technician understanding and application of these practices among healthcare providers, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing the risk of complications related to improper insulin delivery techniques.

 

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

  1. Identify factors that influence needle length choice.
  2. List formulary insulin syringes and pen needles for prescribing based on best practices.
  3. Explain how to select an appropriate pen needle for the given patient case.
  4. Explain how to select an appropriate insulin syringe for the given patient case.
