LTES: The VA Amputation System of Care: The Role of the Amputation Rehabilitation Coordinator: The Importance of Care Coordination and the Pursuit of Appropriation of Benefits

Program Description: 

This presentation will cover information about the VA Amputation System of Care (ASoC) and the role of the various members of the team caring for the Veteran living with amputation(s). A deep dive into the role of the Amputation Rehabilitation Coordinator (ARC) in the care and care coordination of the individual transitioning from DoD to Veteran status will be provided as well as providing information as to the benefits the Veteran is eligible.

 

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, kinesiotherapists, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the hub and spoke model of care of the VA ASoC.
  2. Verbalize the process recommended by the VA ASoC in assisting in the warm handoff of a Veteran transitioning into the VA system.
  3. Examine the role of the ARC in the holistic and coordinated care of the Veteran living with amputation(s).
  4. Discuss the nuances of the Clothing Allowance, Auto Adaptive and Service Dog benefits.
