LTES: Psychological First Aid

This presentation introduces Psychological First Aid (PFA) as an evidence-informed framework for non-mental health providers to assess trauma survivors. It provides guidance on mitigating acute distress and identifying individuals who may require more intensive psychological interventions.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, kinesiotherapists, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

  1. Describe the psychological impact of burn injury in Burn & Multiple Trauma Survivors.
  2. Discuss Psychological First Aid as a means for non-mental health clinicians to assess survivors and increase resilience.
  3. Identify appropriate early interventions to mitigate psychological sequelae.
