LTC Juanita Warman Nursing Grand Rounds 2024 Q4 Home Study

Program Description

This event started as a Unit Practice Council initiative and was initially conducted as an annual conference. The decision to move from a one-day conference to quarterly grand rounds was made to meet the needs of the organization. The planning committee of the grand rounds seek to bring speakers of various expertise to help provide a diverse educational experience. We will have two speakers at this offering. The grand rounds are going to be held both in-person and on a virtual platform.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for nurses. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain the origin of long-standing respiratory myths and why they’re wrong.
  2. Discuss the relationship between ventilation and oxygenation as well as their differences.
  3. Summarize how heated high-flow nasal cannulas work.
  4. Identify the differences between continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP).
  5. Differentiate between physical and occupational therapy in hospital settings.
  6. Summarize why safe mobility is important and how we can keep it safe.
  7. Review ways to improve patient mobility on our inpatient wards.
  8. Understand how inpatient rehab determines disposition recommendations.
