Program Description

This course is a Tri-Service event designed for first time clinical supervisors. The course provides them with the administrative tools to successfully manage their clinical areas. Topics discussed include: 

-Civilian Personnel
-Contracting
-Budgeting
-Quality Management
-Tools available through the TRICARE Operations Center
-Efficient Scheduling and Utilization Management
-And more

One of the additional benefits to the attendees is the interaction that takes place among the group. Panel discussions allow the clinicians to ask direct questions and receive first-hand answers regarding management tools and practices that are or have the potential to impact the military health care management arena.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, and healthcare executives. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

  1. Summarize Health Care Operations Structure and Functions.
  2. Illustrate how the DHA Strategy is executed through QPP.
  3. Describe Disability Evaluation System (DES) Purpose, Background and Key Elements.
  4. Summarize when a new Position Description (PD) is needed and how they are classified.
  5. Outline Merit System Principles and Prohibited Personnel Practices.
  6. Impose disciplinary action to address employee misconduct.
  7. Review available analysis tools to measure and improve clinic operations.
  8. Summarize access to care and template management.
  9. Describe the principles and purpose of Acuity Analysis.
  10. Outline how to manage the work and workforce.
  11. Describe health care surveys available to Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries, veterans and TRICARE Members.
  12. Describe and Distinguish Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness (DISC) Behavioral Styles.

    DHA J-7 CEPO has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 20.25 hours of AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until Thursday, May 27, 2021 - 11:59pm ET. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
  • 20.25 ACCME Non-Physician CME Credit
    DHA, J-7, CEPO is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education. ACCME Non-Physician CME Credit providers will be provided a certificate of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. ACCME Non-Physician CME Credit providers may receive a maximum of 20.25 hours for completing this Course activity.
  • 20.25 Healthcare Executives (ACHE)
    By attending this program offered by DHA, J-7, CEPO, participants may earn up to 20.25 American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Qualified Education hours toward initial certification or recertification of the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) designation. Participants in this program who wish to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report, participants must log into their MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.
