HCE: CAOHC Professional Supervisor Certification
The Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) has designed a training program to prepare audiologists, otolaryngologists, or other physicians to become certified Professional Supervisors of the Audiometric Monitoring Program©. Federal record keeping and reporting requirements for hearing conservation programs (HCPs) are increasing the need for audiologists and physicians to serve as Professional Supervisors of HCPs. These professionals, who supervise audiometric testing programs, should fully understand and employ best practices of hearing conservation.
This workshop is broken into two phases:
Phase 1 is an online on-demand workshop conducted through the CAOHC Learning Center and will be available to students as soon as they register for the workshop. Lessons include topics on hearing conservation in general, monitoring audiometry, hearing protection fitting, reviewing audiograms, and the role of the professional supervisor.
Lessons should be completed prior to attending the live virtual event on 18 Sept 2025 from 0800 - 1700 EST.
Students must register at: https://www.caohc.org/training-and-certifications/professional-supervisor/professional-supervisor-course/course-dates-and-locations/september-18-2025-ps-dod-virtual-course
Phase 2 is a live virtual event through MS Teams led by subject matter experts in audiology and occupational medicine. The workshop will continue education on monitoring audiometry, ototoxicity considerations in occupational hearing conservation, work relatedness determination, and an instructor supervised discussion of case studies. Students will discuss cases together and present findings to other students in the class. Instructors will oversee the case study discussion.
