HCE: CAOHC Course Director Certification Workshop

May 9, 2024

Program Description

CAOHC approved Military Representatives will provide an 8-hour workshop for hearing conservation professionals seeking certification or re-certification as Course Directors. CD certification is required to train and certify hearing technicians conducting surveillance audiometry across the Department of Defense as part of the Service Hearing Conservation Program. Certification as a Course Director ensures that instructors provide training and certification to technicians performing hearing conservation activities such as surveillance audiometry, hearing protection fitting, basic ear evaluations, hearing testing equipment preparation, reviewing audiometry results with employees, providing hearing health education, and working as part of a hearing conservation team, fully understand the requirements of the profession and have successfully demonstrated competence in pure-tone threshold audiometry and hearing protection selection and fitting. Hearing technician certification is required by DoDI 6055.12 and a recommended practice of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
