Get Your ACT Together: Introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in the Military, Day 2

Program Description

This training is intended for clinicians and students in the behavioral health field looking to better understand and implement Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as an additional transdiagnostic psychotherapy to improve the functioning and decrease the suffering of military mental health patients. This will be accomplished in a 2-day, in-person training at Andrews AFB with didactical and experiential components.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, social workers, and psychologists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Demonstrate skills in the domain of acceptance and cognitive diffusion.
  2. Apply metaphor and experiential exercises with patients after practicing and receiving feedback during the training.
  3. Summarize how to apply Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to a service member with deployment-related trauma.

The instructional level of this activity is intermediate. There is no cost to participate.

    As a Jointly Accredited Organization, DHA J7 CEPO is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 5.50 ASWB continuing education credits.
