Family Advocacy Program - Multi Victim Course
The Family Advocacy Staff Training, Advanced (FASTA) course will build on basic skills by providing specific training on preventing, identifying, investigating, and treating family violence cases and the procedures for responding to acts of family violence in Department of defense operated/regulated activities.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, social workers, certified counselors, and psychologists across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees..
Learning Objectives
- Identify the effects of conditioning, stress responses, threat scanning, and learned relationship experiences on partner selection and recurring relationship patterns.
- Analyze individual and relational cycles using the stress cycle, relationship cycle, and Karpman Drama Triangle to recognize patterns associated with dysfunctional relationships and family violence.
- Apply evidence-based strategies, including the SAFE Model, boundary awareness, and conflict-resolution skills, to recognize and interrupt dysfunctional relationship patterns.
- Develop coordinated clinical and multidisciplinary approaches for managing allegations of child sexual abuse, including providing appropriate clinical services and collaborating with Army and other support services.
