Eglin AEGD: Innovations in Dental Techniques and Procedures
Program Description:
This live, in-person course reviews the most recent literature on composite repair vs. replacement, a novel technique for bone grafting, gingival condition with retraction paste vs. traditional cord techniques, laser dentistry compared to conventional caries removal, immediate dentinal sealing, the role of nanohydroxyapatite (n-Hap) in modern dentistry, current and trending tooth whitening techniques and their efficacy, and the use of sodium bicarbonate as a buffing agent for local anesthetics.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Describe basic composition, function, chemistry of composite resin.
- Name at least two techniques for bonding old composite resin.
- Describe benefits and risks of bonding to old composite.
- Compare and contrast uses for gingival retraction paste versus retraction cord.
- Summarize the benefits of dental lasers in the treatment of various oral health issues.
- Explain what immediate dentin sealing (IDS) is, and the science behind IDS and veneers.
- Summarize the rationale for application of IDS in modern dentistry.
- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of IDS.
- Discuss the benefits of use of nanohydroxyapatite in Preventative and Restorative Dentistry.
- Identify the applicability of sodium bicarbonate in buffering anesthesia.
- Describe available treatment options for whitening.
