Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, social workers and psychologists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

  1. Discuss the difference between fact and expert witness testimony.
  2. Explain the role of a forensic medical examiner witness in a court-martial context.
  3. Summarize the key rules of evidence that govern forensic healthcare examiners’ testimony in a court-martial.
  4. Appraise best practices for forensic healthcare examiners to testify effectively in military cases.
  5. Describe techniques for effective use of medical literature, demonstrative exhibits, and testimony to communicate in a court-martial effectively.
