DHA CQM: New Accreditation and Compliance Professionals Course, OCT 2024
Program Description:
Accreditation and Compliance is one of the six Clinical Quality Management (CQM) programs that work together to improve quality of care received by MHS beneficiaries. This interactive course introduces key knowledge and skills all entry-level CQM Accreditation and Compliance professionals must have to effectively maintain a continuous state of readiness for accrediting organization (AO) assessment through The Joint Commission (TJC) surveys. Participants will discover how their Accreditation and Compliance roles support the mitigation or elimination of harm to patients, staff, and visitors.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Differentiate between accreditation and certification.
- Describe terms, resources, and tools required to support a Performance Improvement (PI) Plan.
- Identify key tools and resources available on The Joint Commission Connect® Extranet site.
- Analyze Military Treatment Facility (MTF) compliance data to identify patterns and trends.
- Compare and contrast Self-Assessment, AAV, Tracer and Triennial Survey data.
- List Joint Commission resources to assist in preparation for TJC surveys.
- Develop corrective action plans for sustainment to mitigate or eliminate risks to staff, patients and visitors.
- Define the TJC Identified Risk Areas for current year.
- Design accreditation sustainment strategies.
- Describe the role of DHA Facility Management Accreditation and Compliance Program and the Environment of Care and Life Safety requirements.
- Incorporate the DHA TJC Preparation checklist and timeline in MTF actions to support continuous survey readiness.
- Explain key components of the survey process.
- Specify the process for self-assessment completion.
- Discuss the collaborative process between Dental Treatment Facilities (DTFs) and MTFs to facilitate DTF accreditation.

In support of improving patient care, DHA, J-7, CEPO is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the health care team. This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 20.50 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
