Target Audience

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe antibiotic prescribing trends in the United States.
  2. List the core elements of antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs).
  3. Outline where to access antimicrobial stewardship resources.
  4. Decide which patients require warfarin over direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs).
  5. Determine outpatient management of venous thromboembolism (initiation, follow up, duration).
  6. Describe appropriate transition to and from warfarin and its application before and after procedures.
  7. Explain the pharmacogenomics (PGx) field
  8. Describe pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics principles and application to drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination (ADME) involved in PGx
  9. Describe the role of the provider in both preconception and contraception care.
  10. Review contraceptives available.
  11. Outline current guidelines for contraceptive management.
  12. Describe the evidence of pharmacogenomics in mental health (MH) prescribing.
  13. Summarize the types of bariatric surgery and candidates for bariatric surgery.
  14. Explain the clinical pharmacists’ role in bariatric medication management.
  15. Evaluate medication management for certain chronic disease states such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia in patient pre/post-bariatric surgery.
  16. Review female reproductive life cycle.
  17. Describe the role of the provider in treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) and vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA).
  18. Outline current guidelines for treatment of menopause symptoms.
  19. Review pharmacotherapy treatments for female sexual dysfunction.
  20. Review diagnosis criteria for Diabetes.
  21. Identify cardiorenal risk factors to determine appropriate medications for patients with T2DM.
  22. Determine glycemic and HgA1c goals based on age and comorbid conditions.
  23. Describe specific goals for older adults, children and adolescents.
  24. Evaluate the current evidence supporting use of each class of anti-obesity medication.
  25. Apply a weight loss management plan incorporating lifestyle intervention and pharmacotherapy for a patient who is a candidate for anti-obesity medication.
  26. Recall infectious disease states for which antimicrobial therapy is not commonly recommended
  27. Summarize various antibiotic therapy for infectious diseases in the ambulatory care setting for adult patients
  28. Compare and contrast continuous glucose monitoring technologies.
  29. Identify appropriate candidates and optimize use of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs).
