Program Description

Learners are providing medications such as NSAID's or short courses of opioid medications resulting potential long term use with associated problems. The Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) training provides a complementary care opportunity to reduce the need for prescription medication and offer less invasive method of intervention to manage acute and chronic pain in the primary care or front line setting.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, psychologists and social workers. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

1.  Apply Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) technique via greater understanding and appreciation of the history of BFA in the DOD and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

2.  Summarize Acupuncture History, Theory, and Evidence with review of the latest literature and research.

3.  Identify and select appropriate patients for BFA.

4.  Demonstrate the ability to provide the BFA technique via practical hands on practice.
