Department of Behavioral Health Winn Army: Introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy
This live, in person course provides training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). DBT is especially effective for people who have difficulty managing and regulating their emotions. DBT has proven to be effective for treating and managing a wide range of mental health conditions, including borderline personality disorder, self-harm, suicidal behavior, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorder, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and psychologists and social workers. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Summarize the history of DBT.
- Explain Biosocial theory.
- Describe the four states of mind and four modules of DBT therapy.
- Practice mindfulness exercises, dialectical and validation strategies.
- Apply Behavior Chain Analysis on Patient.
- Explain the different stages of treatment.
