Defense Forensic Science Center: A Refresher on the processing and analysis of forensic evidence at the USACIL DNA Branch
Program Description
This activity is a part of the FNP Webinar Training Series. This iteration will review the Processing and Analysis of Forensic Evidence U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory (USACIL) DNA Branch.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians and nurses. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the structure of the USACIL Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Branch.
- Explain the responsibilities of the USACIL DNA Branch.
- Describe case submission and acceptance at USACIL.
- Apply the DNA branch’s workflow to the Physical Evidence Recovery Kit (PERK).
- Identify limitations to the production of the PERK and ways to overcome these limitations
- Describe the recommendations for best practices in medical forensic evidence collection to assist the crime lab.
