RHCE 2019 Fall Medical Surgical Conference: Pediatrics: Day 2
Target Audience
This CE activity is provided by the DHA J-7 Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO). This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, kinesiotherapists, counselors, and healthcare executives. Learning Objectives
1. Review the differential diagnosis of chest pain and palpitations in children and adolescents.
2. Recognize the warning signs or red flags concerning for cardiac pathology which should prompt subspecialty evaluation.
3. Identify the at-risk population and leading causes of sudden cardiac death in children, adolescents, and active duty service members.
4. Discuss the common presentations of diseases that cause sudden cardiac death in otherwise healthy individuals.
5. Identify the factors in their practice they can change to increase efficiency.
6. Outline history of medical records and understand how to leverage the EMR to increase efficiency and productivity.
7. Discuss the positive and negative aspects of screen use on youth.
8. Demonstrate the ability to confidently educate and inform parents about risks associated with screen use in youth.
9. Identify Red flags of feeding disorders in infancy.
10. List techniques a provider in clinic can provide to a family to use at home to improve the breadth of foods their children eat.
11. Assess indications and approaches for work up and/or further evaluation of pediatric paroxysmal events.
12. Explain current epilepsy therapy trends and understand the systemic and neurodevelopmental implications, as well as recommendations for routine surveillance and management.
