Target Audience

This CE activity is accredited by the DHA J-7 Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO). This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, optometrists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, kinesiotherapists, and healthcare executives. Learning Objectives

1.    Recognize ocular surface disorders in the glaucoma patient.
2.    Develop a better understanding of the newest technological advances and breakthroughs in glaucoma.
3.    Analyze best treatment options for patients with glaucoma.
4.    Break down a comprehensive glaucoma evaluation including outlining individual steps in managing a glaucoma suspect/patient.
5.    Outline information from various forms of research materials and literature as it applies to diagnosis and treatment of patients with glaucoma.
6. Analyze case studies to identify the best treatment options for patients with glaucoma.
7.    Break down interdisciplinary collaboration and how to set up TBI optometry clinic at your facility.
8.    Identify tips and tricks for finding the most common ocular and vestibular problems associated with TBI.
9.    Outline hierarchy of Post Trauma Vision Syndrome (PTVS) treatment.
10.    Compare malingering verses conversion disorder.
11.    Explain the functional approach to prescribing optical devices, vision therapy, and prism.
12.    Demonstrate improve knowledge in the different restrictions which prevent a service member from being eligible for refractive surgery.
13.    Recognize the salient points to review on the Pentacam® display in order to ensure that a member is safe for refractive surgery.
14.    Compare co-management expectations between the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Warfighter Refractive Surgery team and the referring Optometry clinics.
15.    Discuss the current and future state of Army Optometry.
