CMO/CNO/CDO 200 Level Training

May 4, 2026 to May 7, 2026

This course offers training for Network and Military Medical/Dental Treatment Facility (MTF/DTF) Chief Medical Officers (CMO) / Chief Nursing Officers (CNO) / Chief Dental Officers (CDO). Training will consist of plenary, small group discussions, and breakout sessions addressing such topics as ready reliable care, just culture, clinical quality management, clinical outcomes, healthcare operations, financial and manpower overviews, medical legal and MTF legal considerations, and leadership development. The curriculum is packed with operational tools and learning objectives to move DHA forward.  This is a training event and not a conference.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain the current mission, vision, and strategic focus of the Defense Health Agency.
  2. Describe the Defense Health Agency Lines of Effort driving the campaign plan as it pertains to the clinical care.
  3. Summarize the manpower models and financial and facilities management of the Defense Health Agency and military medical/dental treatment facilities.
  4. Recognize emerging practices in Warfighter Brain Health.
  5. Explain Enterprise-Wide Privileging.
  6. Recognize Second Victim Syndrome (SVS) and describe ways to provide support to someone experiencing SVS.
  7. Describe how to effectively utilize patient safety reporting and healthcare risk management within the Defense Health Agency.
  8. Identify how the medical legal team is incorporated into Clinical Quality Management practices.
