Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, physician associates/physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, audiologists, speech language pathologists, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, psychologists, optometrists, social workers, registered dieticians, dietetic technicians, certified counselors, kinesiotherapists, certified case managers, allied health professionals, and clinical leaders and subject matter experts involved in guideline development. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
Day 1: Foundational Concepts
- Structure a clinical question using the PICO framework.
- Apply the GRADE domains to evaluate the certainty of evidence for a key question.
- Collaborate within a breakout group to apply foundational concepts to a case study.
Day 2: Refining Recommendations
- Refine draft recommendations by determining their appropriate strength and direction.
- Analyze a set of recommendations to ensure consistency in strength, direction, and language.
- Collaborate with peers to achieve consensus on draft recommendations.
Day 3: Patient-Centered Recommendations
- Identify methods for eliciting patient values and preferences.
- Appropriately incorporate patient values and preferences into guideline recommendations.
- Modify draft recommendations to reflect patient-centered considerations.
Day 4: Finalization and Future Work
- Confirm the completeness of a full set of clinical recommendations.
- Validate the final strength, direction, and rationale for each recommendation.
- Ensure the final recommendations are complete and ready for post-workshop drafting.
