Program Description

This home study is designed to support DHA care teams on effectively documenting patient accessible clinical (open) notes, learning the do’s and don’ts of writing clinical notes, and covering best practice expectations for patient care/engagement.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists and certified counselors. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees. 

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify evidence used to explain the utility of patient accessible (open) notes for patients and providers.
  2. Describe the ethical and practical ways to effectively engage with patients on writing of notes.
  3. Recognize the appropriate examples of providers’ use of written notes.
