After obtaining her medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine, she completed her psychiatry residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and then a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.

Her research and clinical interests include development of integrated psychiatric care for oncology patients, psychiatric education, and physician wellness.
