Burn Rehabilitation Concepts
Program Description:
This live course provides information on key clinical components that clinicians address in the burn rehabilitation clinical environment. This course features didactic and interactive sessions covering the following: anatomy/physiology of skin, burn/wound assessment and management, hand anatomy and assessment, skin and scar biomechanics, rehabilitation management of burn injuries, scar management, critical care considerations for rehabilitation, and a review of common wound dressings for the burn patient.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Summarize skin function and complexity of skin/scar management after burn injury.
- Describe rehabilitation assessment and management of a burn patient.
- Outline burn wound dressings, wound healing, and its rehabilitation implications.
- Illustrate hand anatomy and key clinical assessment strategies.
- Discuss compression needs for burn patients.
- Explain specialized needs for lower extremity burn management.
