Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses and physician assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Distinguish the signs and symptoms of lumbar radiculopathy from pathologies that may have a similar presentation.
  2. Describe other possible conditions that enables the physician to consider a breadth of alternative diagnoses when a patient presents with radiating lower extremity pain.
  3. Summarize nonoperative and operative treatment regimens and the role they play in altering the natural history of the disease.
  4. Devise how the Family Practice Physician Assistant (PA) can best incorporate this information to develop and improve current clinical practice.
