Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses and physician assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Outline the impact of surgical and nonsurgical management of three conditions: intervertebral disk herniation, degenerative spondylolisthesis, and lumbar spinal stenosis as they relate to symptoms of low back and leg pain.
  2. Illustrate non-operative and operative treatment regimens and the role they play in altering the natural history of the disease.
  3. Explain how the Family Practice Physician Assistant (PA) can best incorporate this information to develop and improve current clinical practice.
