ForwardArmy Pharmacy Education Course – 2026
The Army Pharmacy Education Course is designed to advance the clinical competence of all military health system pharmacists, fostering a collaborative environment to elevate patient care across the enterprise. Its specific target audience focuses on pharmacists who are currently evaluating their career trajectories and deciding whether to pursue formal clinical residency training. Ultimately, this course bridges the educational gap to equip all attendees with foundational knowledge while guiding prospective residents through the rigorous expectations of postgraduate programs. Participants will learn to evaluate managed care prior authorization criteria for Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) for weight loss and compose strategies to improve prior authorization documentation. Coursework teaches how to apply specific warnings and precautions regarding GLP-1 RA use in women of childbearing age. Additionally, attendees will design and sustain pharmacy workflows that deliver targeted medication reconciliation and patient counseling to individuals at high risk for medication errors. By analyzing past rotation lessons and real-world applications, pharmacists will solidify the critical clinical skills required to optimize health outcomes.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Evaluate managed care prior authorization criteria for GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) prescribed for weight loss.
