Program Description

This series of Extension of Community Health Outcomes (ECHO) Clinics will cover methods, benefits, and outcomes of sharing specialized Pain management medical knowledge utilizing Project ECHO. The U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Pain Management program worked with University of New Mexico’s (UNM) Project ECHO Office to adapt and replicate the UNM ECHO model in order to synchronize implementation of the Comprehensive Pain Management Campaign Plan (CPMCP) and to provide innovative support to Primary Care.  

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, psychologists, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and certified counselors.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain the role of physical and occupational therapy in the treatment of patients with chronic pain.
  2. Identify the techniques that physical and occupational therapists use to manage patients with chronic pain.
  3. Recognize the range of physical self-management techniques available to patients to manage pain.
