Air Force Special Tactics Unit: Ethical Decision-Making and Case Consultation in Embedded Behavioral
Program Description
This ethics workshop will address ethical decision-making, the relationship between ethics and law, and ways to minimize exposure to legal and ethical liability in Air Force settings. The workshop will include a discussion of the APA and NASW Ethics Codes, with a focus on the structure of the Codes and an exploration of the Codes aspirational and enforceable aspects. Multiple case vignettes will be used to illustrate ethical decision-making applied in actual practice, with Ethics Codes conceptualized as tools to assist in resolving ethical dilemmas, rather than simply as documents that set forth obligations and prohibitions. The workshop will place special emphasis on the role of psychology and social work in a complex organization (i.e., the Air Force) and issues of dual agency
