LTC Juanita Warman Nursing Grand Rounds: Adult Learning Theory – Its Application at the Bedside and Beyond (Home Study)

This will be the seventh event of the LTC Juanita Warman Quarterly Nursing Grand Rounds. This event started as a Unit Practice Council initiative and was initially conducted as an annual conference. The decision to move from a one-day conference to quarterly grand rounds was made to meet the needs of the organization. The planning committee of the grand rounds seek to bring speakers of various expertise to help provide a diverse educational experience. We will have two speakers at this offering. The grand rounds are going to be held both in-person and on a virtual platform.

How to Access LTC Warman Nursing Grand Rounds Courses:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and click the Chat  icon on the left.
  2. Click the three dots ··· next to where it says “Teams and channels” at the bottom left of the page (under the list of chats).
  3. Select “Your teams and channels” in the dropdown.
  4. Click the arrow ⌵ next to “Create team” in the top right corner, then select “Join Team” in the dropdown.
  5. Under the “Join a team with a code” option, enter the code wsn20h7
  6. Once you have joined the team, you will have access to the videos and files under the “Shared” tab at the top of the page. Please note that the folders are organized by event date.

In the "General" folder, access the subfolder titled "Warman_NGR_2026_Q2".

To obtain CE/CME credit: open the PowerPoint file, "HTOCE_LTCJWNGR-1 JUL 2026 to 1 JUL 2027-HS". This file will specify the access code required to access the course evaluation and posttest.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for nurses across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe two of the main principles of Knowles’ Adult Learning Theory.
  2. Summarize the learning preferences of the three generations discussed.
  3. Explain the Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic (VARK) learning preference elements.
  4. Describe how to apply using Adult Learning Theory, Generational learning preferences and the VARK preference model as a preceptor (peer) and leader.
