Program Description

This presentation will discuss Acceptance and Commitment Therapy through academic discussions, interactive and practical activities, and application of ACT.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for social workers, psychologists, and certified counselors. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Provide an understanding of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and its theoretical farmwork.
  2. Gain a basic understanding of the foundations of ACT and the principles of ACT by engaging in interactive discussions and practical exercises.
  3. Learn strategies to utilize ACT when treating clients with a documented history of substance use disorder, anxiety related disorders, depression, and trauma related disorders.
  4. Utilize strategies to help a patient get unstuck and pivot.
  5. Navigate the ACT telehealth app, review homework with patients, and implement the flexibility of using ACT in conjunction with other modalities.
  6. Develop a foundational understanding of case conceptualization and complete worksheets as a standard practice for identified patients.
  7. Apply ACT principles to specific case studies.
  8. Implement best practices for completing ACT case formulation.
  9. Develop ACT treatment goals and session auto texts along with techniques to improve documentation.
  10. Promote healthcare provider wellness and reduce burnout through the application of ACT principles.

    Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). DHA, J7, CEPO maintains responsibility for the content of the programs. DHA, J-7, CEPO designated this activity for a maximum of 10.00 CE credits. The instructional level of this activity is intermediate. There is no cost to participate.
  • 10.00 Social Workers (ASWB)

    As a Jointly Accredited Organization, DHA, J7, CEPO is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 10.00 Clinical continuing education credits.
