Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness: Tri-Service Vision Conservation and Readiness Overview

This is the monthly Vision Center of Excellence Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness Video TeleConference. This conference discusses ocular trauma cases and vision readiness topics from around the Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency, and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This activity will review the mission, purpose, and importance of the Tri-Service Vision Conservation and Readiness (TSVCR) Program, which supports the Department of Defense and impacts readiness.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for MHS physicians, optometrists and nurses. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the mission, purpose, and importance of the Tri-Service Vision Conservation and Readiness (TSVCR) Program in supporting Department of Defense readiness.
  2. Identify the key components of a Vision Conservation and Readiness Program, including vision readiness, optical readiness, eye health readiness, occupational vision, eye safety, and environmental vision.
  3. Explain how visual performance, ocular health, and eye injury prevention contribute to operational safety, mission effectiveness, and force readiness.
  4. Recognize the roles and responsibilities of Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene/Bioenvironmental Engineering, and Optometry/Ophthalmology personnel in implementing an effective Vision Conservation and Readiness Program.
