Program Description

This is the monthly Vision Center of Excellence Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness Video TeleConference (VCE OTVR VTC). This conference discusses ocular trauma cases and vision readiness topics from around the DoD and DHA and VA. This month’s topic focuses on the low vision rehabilitation services available to service members and veterans across the Military Treatment Facilities and the VA, and the roles of the different members of the vision rehabilitation team.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain the history of infectious disease and its relationship to the human cornea and contact lens use.
  2. Comprehend the risks contact lens use has on patient care.
  3. Identify the different type of infectious elements and how they impact the human cornea.
  4. Describe proper diagnostic protocol in determining cause of infectious keratitis.
  5. Summarize the treatment and management options that will be available to eye care providers.
