Learning Objectives

​1. Summarize the history behind WINN Army Community Hospital (ACH) from Camp Stewart until now. 

2. Evaluate the current state of WINN ACH and its capabilities. 

3. Demonstrate an awareness of the DHA market and its future. 

4. Review the dynamics of change, the challenges when faced with necessary change in the organization, and integrate the different methods used to implement lasting organizational change. 

5. Explore the characteristics of an ethical organization as well as discuss how leaders align the decisions, conduct, policy and other aspects of the organization with its stated values to foster an ethical environment. 

6. Identify at least three conditions of resilient leaders and organizations. 

7. Discuss current biopsychosocial etiologies/pathophysiology of fatigue. 

8. List evidence-based modalities used in the management of fatigue. 

9. Explain how to integrate the multidisciplinary team to evaluate and treat fatigue, especially in the context of behavioral health. 

10. Describe components of a fit for duty examination. 

11. Review treatment considerations when determining if a Soldier is at a medical retention determination point. 

12. Apply changes to AR 40-501 when evaluating fitness for duty and referral to MEB. 

13. Identify the steps a Service Member can take prior to discharge to help with transitioning to the VA. 

14. Summarize the different branches and individual roles of the VA system of care. 

15. Explain VHA enrollment and resources a Veteran might qualify for based on a VA Service connected disability. 

16. Analyze the current disability system and the ethical implications to active duty health care providers in the Army. 

17. Recognize malingering and “pseudo malingering” as it relates to the disability system and the ethical dilemmas related to secondary gain. 

18. Identify how malingering/symptom exaggeration for secondary gain is perceived by providers in 3ID and provide ethical observations from the medical and behavioral health clinics. 

 19. Discuss these perceptions, how they contribute to provider burnout, and ways to manage cynicism and fatigue when treating this patient population.
