Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Differentiate artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and large language models (LLMs), and explain in plain terms how LLMs are trained and generate text.
  2. Apply the CO-STAR-E framework and related prompt-engineering tactics to construct effective clinical prompts.
  3. Identify key risks of generative AI in clinical practice, including hallucination, automation bias, and protected health information (PHI) exposure, and the corresponding safeguards.
  4. Describe current AI platforms relevant to pharmacy practice, including Ask Sage, OpenEvidence, UpToDate Expert AI, and medication-safety AI such as MedAware and DoseMeRx.
