Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and physician assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe medical management of adverse effects resulting from succinylcholine administration.
  2. Identify common complications in pediatric anesthesia and how to minimize the morbidity associated with them. 
  3. Review the challenges associated with administering anesthesia in austere environments. 
  4. Discuss safety of asleep versus sedated versus awake blocks. 
  5. Develop approaches for reducing the incidence of emergence delirium. 
  6. Recall several trials that influenced the practice of critical care and anesthesia and their importance in the field of epistemology. 7.
  7. Model the use of “belief” while we await new knowledge. 
  8. Utilize an algorithm for treating emergence agitation in the recovery room. 
  9. Identify the components and mission of Medical Readiness Exercise (MEDREX) in Ghana. 10.
  10. Understand the indications of neuromuscular blocking agents.
