2024 Management of Burns and Multiple Trauma Course (25 hours)
Program Description:
This live event that will feature didactic sessions and clinical observation covering anatomy/physiology of skin, burn/wound assessment and management, emergency burn & trauma care, complications with burn and trauma, nutrition concerns with burn population, rehabilitation management of burn injuries, surgical aspects of trauma and amputations, rehabilitation management of amputations, management of combat stress, management of traumatic brain injury, critical care management, and burn trauma care relating to the military population.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, registered dieticians, dietetic technicians, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Describe skin function and complexity of skin/scar management after burn injury
- Illustrate assessment and management of burn trauma, and provide appropriate rehabilitation treatment
- Summarize acute management of trauma to include burn wound care, basic life support, and traumatic brain injury management
- Discuss burn and trauma care in an austere environment
- Outline orthopedic trauma management, and complexity of amputee care
- Explain acute stress management and psychological aspects of burn trauma
