Eric Shuping, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.F.P.

Dr. Eric Shuping is board certified in family practice, preventive medicine, and occupational medicine. He came to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) after retiring from the Army after 27 years of service. He has earned a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Shuping has published studies on infectious disease and injury control.
Dr. Shuping has had significant experience with environmental health issues within the Army and Department of Defense in deployed and garrison settings. He has been involved in the Chemical Warfare Agent Program, the issue of lead exposure from firing ranges, and nuclear and chemical weapon surety programs. He is the President Elect for the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Shuping is also flight medicine, dive medical, and Expert Field medical badge (EFMB) qualified.
