BRAVE Safety Standdown OCONUS

December 10, 2026

This live virtual training, presented by senior faculty from the BRAVE Virtual Health program provides a comprehensive review of current clinical operations and acute risk management protocols. The activity addresses a critical professional practice gap by exploring standardized workflows for patient safety, documentation, and emergency procedures to ensure compliance with DoD and DHA policies. Through a didactic webinar format via Microsoft Teams, this training examines key topics including the At Risk Case Tracker (ARCT), CODE BRAVE emergency protocols, 72-hour documentation standards, and the distinct roles of providers versus Nurse Case Managers in a virtual care environment.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for nurses, social workers, and psychologists across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify clinical points of contact and program resources using the centralized Site Directory.
  2. Differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate clinical referrals for the BRAVE program.
  3. Describe the mandatory components of clinical documentation, specifically the 72-Hour Notes, emergency contacts, and safety plans.
  4. Distinguish the distinct clinical roles and operational boundaries of providers versus Nurse Case Managers regarding patient safety checks.
  5. Differentiate between levels of acute risk utilizing the Acute Risk Stratification process.
  6. Manage continuous patient observation protocols during high-risk transfers until a safe Military Treatment Facility (MTF) hand-off is secured.
  7. List the procedural steps required to activate the emergency "CODE BRAVE" workflow via the designated MS Teams channels.
  8. Identify the clinical criteria and email protocols required for placing a patient on the At Risk Case Tracker (ARCT).
  9. Manage patients added to the ARCT to fulfill patient care requirements until a safe MTF hand-off is secured.
