ForwardDay 1: Mental Health System of Care Overview
This session provides an overview of the Mental Health System of Care highlighting Outpatient Mental Health, Child and Family Mental Health, Primary Care-Mental Health Integration, Mental Health Case Management, and the inTransition Program.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, social workers, and psychologists across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the role of Outpatient Mental Health within the Mental Health System of Care (MHSOC) and current lines of effort.
- Explain some connections between supporting and treating Dependent behavioral health issues in reference to Military Readiness and Warfighter Lethality.
- Describe the responsibilities for DHN and MTF MH personnel related to Child and Family Mental Health upcoming policy.
- Identify the appropriate DHA terminology for PC-MHI personnel and programs.
- Describe the two evidence-based approaches for integrating MH personnel in DHA primary care (PC) clinics.
- Define the roles and responsibilities of the Mental Health Case Manager (MH CM) as established in DoW/DHA guidance for Active-Duty Service Members (ADSM).
- Differentiate the scope of MH Case Management from general Outpatient Case Management, Disease Management, and Utilization Management.
- Identify at least two ways that an SM or Veteran can get referred to the inTransition to facilitate their connection to mental health care.
- Identify three key features and three limitations of inTransition coaching services.
