This activity provides relevant training to active duty Navy clinical psychologists on a broad range of topics that psychologists encounter during their practice. These activities include risk assessment, suicide prevention and embedded mental health.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for psychologists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Differentiate pediatric suicide risk from adult paradigms, especially impulsivity.
  2. Identify diagnostic traps, particularly over-reliance on self-report.
  3. Utilize Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale/Ask Suicide-Screening Questions and conduct a Brief Suicide Safety Assessment.
  4. Categorize youth into low, intermediate and acute risk.
  5. Develop age-appropriate safety plans and conduct The Joint Commission-compliant Lethal Means Counseling.
