Family Advocacy Staff Training Advanced - Partner Abuse
This one-week course is designed to develop the skills of clinicians, counselors, and other professionals who provide assessment, treatment and preventive services in the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Training will assist participants in developing intervention programs for individuals, groups, and couples who are experiencing abuse or who are at risk of abuse.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and certified counselors across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate Collaboration: Foster partnerships between different agencies to create a unified approach in assisting families dealing with domestic violence.
- Apply Awareness: Education, training and collaboration on best practices along with current research and developmental innovations in the domestic violence field.
- Describe Best Practices: Highlight successful prevention methods and interventions in domestic violence, encouraging the adoption of evidence-based practices across disciplines.
- Utilize Treatment Methods: Discuss how the use of interviewing techniques and treatment methods that will assist in treating the whole familial unit.
- Analyze Research and Development: Encourage collaboration on research initiatives that address behavioral health and domestic violence issues specific to military personnel.

DHA J-7 CEPO is accredited by the Joint Accreditation/Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) to provide this Continuing Nursing Education Course for a maximum of 10.00 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs. Participants may earn 10.00 CE credits for completing this activity.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, DHA J7 CEPO is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 10.00 Clinical continuing education credits.
