Cone Beam Computed Tomography: Clinical Application and Implications
The training consists of lectures and case reviews designed to familiarize participants with the basic cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) principles for ordering, acquisition, and interpretation of CBCT scans, standardized CBCT report formats, anatomic variations, pathologic entities identified on CBCT images, and case reviews. The fundamentals of radiation safety are also reviewed.

Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for dentists, dental residents, dental hygienists, dental technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Recognize the indications for small, medium, and large volume CBCT images
- Identify the indications for CBCT imaging in dentistry
- Identify the required components of a CBCT report
- Explain the fundamentals of radiation physics and safety
- Identify normal anatomy and anatomic variation on CBCT images
- Describe the principles of ordering, acquisition and CBCT interpretation
