2026 DAF FAP and NPSP: Day 2 - Family Advocacy Nurses

This live event is intended for active duty military, civilian and contractor personnel within the healthcare profession serving military families participating in the Family Advocacy Program. This conference serves as a crucial platform for educating and equipping Family Advocacy Nurse, clinical and administrative professionals to effectively prevent and respond to child abuse, neglect and domestic abuse within the Air Force community. The primary goals of this nursing conference are multifaceted, aiming to enhance the knowledge and skills of attendees.

During the Family Advocacy Nurse sessions the learners will attend three sessions which will focus animal abuse and the connection to human violence, and the New Parent Support Program Documentation and Long Term Case Management.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for MHS nurses, social workers, and certified counselors. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

Animal Abuse: Connections to Human Violence

  1. Describe definitions, motives, and theoretical frameworks related to animal abuse.
  2. Describe the co-occurrence of animal abuse, child abuse, and intimate partner violence.
  3. Discuss implications for screening, training, and cross-system collaboration.

New Parent Support Program Documentation

  1. Identify the most appropriate forms for documentation in the New Parent Support Program (NPSP)
  2. Understand what is required for NPSP documentation
  3. Identify peer review documentation tools and requirements

New Parent Support Program Long Term Case Management

  1. Define anticipatory guidance 
  2. Describe the case management process 
  3. Apply to New Parent Support Program home visiting

    DHA J-7 CEPO is accredited by the Joint Accreditation/Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) to provide this Continuing Nursing Education Course for a maximum of 4.50 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
