This activity is for Active Duty Dental Providers to learn about the latest research and techniques for dental diagnosis and treatment.

Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

- Identify common techniques for extractions
- Recall pearls and pitfalls commonly seen during extractions
- Discuss common mistakes when extracting teeth

“Orthodontic Pearls”
- Explain and integrate orthodontic screening and referrals into general practice
- Identify candidates for orthodontic evaluation based on Handicapping index of malocclusion (HIM) score criteria
- Explain how orthodontic records inform the diagnosis/problem list, treatment objectives, and treatment plan
- Determine appropriate orthodontic retention considerations

- Discuss the key concepts which are part of sleep diagnostics including apnea-hypopnea index and respiratory disturbance index
- Describe tools that can be acquired by the patient without a prescription to add to their overall treatment plan
- Compare options that require a prescription from a medical professional, including the associated multi-disciplinary communication
- Explore irreversible treatment options that involve surgeons, including otolaryngologist (ENT) and oral surgery
- Create a plan for appointments when treating a patient with potential obstructive sleep apnea
“An Introduction to the Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Its Application in Dentistry”
- Define key Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts, including machine learning, deep learning, and describe their basic mechanisms
- Identify applications of AI in dentistry

- Evaluate the Potential Damage to Permanent Dentition
“Peri-Implant Diseases: Prevention and Treatment”
- Adequately diagnose peri-implant disease
- Explain the etiology of peri-implant disease
- Discuss some of the risk factors associated with peri-implant disease
- Describe how to prevent peri-implant diseases from developing
- Describe non-surgical and surgical treatment options for peri-implant disease
