American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course - 2026
This CE/CME course is designed to award CE/CME credit to learners who have already recently completed the Red Cross training course offered through the Department of War (DoW).

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (10.0 clock hours):
The PALS course provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to assess, recognize, and care for pediatric patients who are experiencing a respiratory emergency, shock, or cardiac emergency. The course emphasizes providing high-quality patient care by integrating psychomotor skills, rhythm interpretation, electrical interventions, and pharmacologic knowledge with critical thinking and problem-solving to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, registered dieticians, and dietetic technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate high-quality basic life support (BLS) skills, including high-quality chest compressions, effective ventilation, and the use of an AED.
- Apply concepts of effective teamwork when caring for a pediatric patient experiencing or a respiratory emergency, shock, or cardiac emergency.
- Integrate advanced communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills when responding as part of a team to a respiratory emergency, shock, or cardiac emergency.
- Apply a systematic, continuous approach to assess, recognize, and care for a pediatric patient experiencing a respiratory emergency, shock, or cardiac emergency.
- Assess, recognize, and care for a pediatric patient experiencing respiratory or cardiac arrest.
- Recognize the nature of a respiratory emergency, shock, or cardiac emergency.
- Perform effective and appropriate pediatric advanced life support care to address a respiratory emergency or shock.
- Demonstrate effective and appropriate care after a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) during a resuscitation effort.

Social workers completing this course receive 10.00 General continuing education credits.

Requirements: CE/CME certificates are awarded to participants who fully complete the Red Cross activity and successfully submit the evaluation survey. The deadline to claim credit is Dec 31, 2026.
